The Carry-On Capsule
Stop overpacking. Pack pieces that work overtime.
If you’re still packing “just in case” outfits, I’m here to intervene. You don’t need 14 dinner options for your 5 night trip. The secret is a curated capsule that works overtime. What you do need are pieces you can re-wear and mix and match without things looking repetitive. I’ve put together my vacation must-haves. I’ll absolutely add in a fun outfit or two, but these are the heavy hitters I wear on repeat.
The straw beach hat is non-negotiable. It hides ocean hair, protects you from the sun, and makes you feel a bit more elevated. This one is my personal favorite.
I’m going on three years with these sandals, which says a lot. They go with nearly every outfit in my suitcase, and they’re comfortable enough to wear all day. They sell out every spring. Size note: they run small, so go up a full size.
Instead of bunch of bulky cover-ups, I pack a few sarongs. They take up almost no space in your suitcase and can be styled different ways. I love this mini crinkle version (comes in 7 colors) & this classic white option.
We’re obsessed with these bra-less tanks. Calling it now…going to be our tank of the summer. So easy, so comfortable, and affordable.
A straw beach bag is a must. It’s roomy enough for sunscreen, a book, and a towel, but still lightweight and easy to carry. The chocolate brown is so pretty.
These jelly sandals are on the pricier side, but the price per wear is there. They go with everything, pack flat, and make even the simplest outfit feel polished. Minimal, versatile, and endlessly rewearable. A couple more options at lower price points here and here!
A linen tunic dress is one of my favorite pieces. I feel like it may not be a best-seller, because it’s always styled poorly on websites (see above lol). Wear it as a cover-up, or tie it at the waist over linen pants or another dress for a totally different look (like this).
I love all sunglasses, but for a beach trip, my go-to is an inexpensive pair that goes with everything. No stress about sand, saltwater, or accidentally dropping them in the ocean.
These linen pants sell out every year, and this year I’m not missing out. Lightweight & comfortable, wear them from a boat day to dinner without any extra effort.
A long-sleeve tee might not be on everyone’s packing list, but it’s always in my suitcase and surprisingly versatile. Perfect for breakfast at the resort, a windy boat ride, or when the beach gets a little chilly.
A linen mini dress is a vacation staple. Easy to dress up or down, it works for daytime, casual dinners, or drinks by the water, and doesn’t take up much space in your carry-on.
